Tesla Model 3 Review

The Tesla Model 3 has been an incredible success story and a highly revolutionary vehicle since its original release in July of 2017. One of the biggest challenges that faced the electric car market was the initial investment required to purchase an electric vehicle. As almost all BEV’s available to the market at that point were priced at the top of the premium budget, meaning it was very much a niche product.  However, on July 28th 2017 and to a great deal of fan fayre, Elon Musk changed this forever, by introducing Tesla’s mass-market, affordable saloon, with a price point starting from $35,000, making it the cheapest electric vehicle in the Tesla arsenal. The launch was an incredible success, with the same level of pre-delivery deposits placed in 24 hours as would typically be seen for the release of the latest Apple smartphone and far exceeding anything seen by traditional car manufacturers in their long illustrious history.

The Tesla Model 3 was designed to be the turning point for the Palo Alto startup and revolutionise the car industry for decades to come.

With continued success and topping the charts for new car deliveries across the globe, this makes the Model 3 a great choice for those who want to purchase a Tesla vehicle and are looking to purchase a Tesla on a more affordable budget. How Does the Tesla Model 3 Perform on the Road?

The Model 3 performs exceptionally well especially compared to its competitors even at the entry level. This version can perform 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds and the Long Range and Performance versions are even faster, competing even with the Porsche 911 and Polestar 2. An estimated range of about 165 miles is expected on the entry-level vehicle with independent reviews claiming that they have managed to test the vehicle up to 238 to 254 miles on a single charge.

The top of the range Performance Model 3 is the most comfortable in terms of driving but the suspension will still feel bumps in urban environments. The lower down the class, the bumpier the suspension but it’s not highly uncomfortable so expect some movement in the entry levels which reduces as you climb up the range. This is made up by the handling which is one of the best in the electric vehicle market. The breaks are less grabby on the road but expect some noise from the tyres on motorways and wind noise from the frameless doors.

Taking a Look at the Interior of the Vehicle

Every feature is controlled using the central touchscreen. The speedometer is located on the top right of the control panel and this allows you to view this easily once you get used to the location of the speedometer. The driving position is good and comfortable with nice alignment with aspects such as the steering wheel and pedals directly with the position of the front seat. The front windscreen pillars may block your view at junctions and other areas depending on your height and driving position – so this is something to bear in mind.

Parking sensors are available at both ends of the car with all versions of the Model 3 and with great illumination being offered by the LED headlights. You have a good view of the back and also have a surround-view camera. The 15-inch touch screen is simple to use and has a number of additions such as navigation, and access to the internet and you can access Netflix and Spotify as additional features. Free data is included for 30 days and then you need a subscription for data usage.

Final Thoughts & Considerations

There’s lots of room available at the front of the vehicle and there is a good amount of space in the back. Due to the fact the Model 3 is a saloon, there isn’t a massive amount of storage space in the boot. Expect 425L of storage space in the boot of the vehicle. For those that are looking for a more accessible vehicle in Tesla’s range – we highly recommend that you consider the Tesla Model 3.

Price Brand New – £45,990 – £59,990

Search Trends for EV in 2020

Trends in online searches show increasing demand for Electric vehicles and charging facilities throughout 2020.

Demand for electric vehicles and EV charging facilities set new records in 2020 according to research released by specialist Tesla online valuation website ‘We Love Tesla’.

Using Google data, the research identified an increase in the number of drivers searching for EV charging facilities whilst on the move. Local searches for ‘Electric Chargers Near Me’ increased by 2,850% between January 2020 and January 2021, with this set to grow as more road users opt for electric vehicles.

Consumers and businesses also seem to be considering making their premises more EV-friendly, with a 350% increase in searches for EV charging installations made during the same period, and a 250% increase for homeowners searching for EV charging at home.

Chris Davies, Founder of ‘We Love Tesla’ commented that “Brands such as Tesla were formed with the intention to show people that they do not need to compromise to drive electric, and that electric cars can be more sustainable, economical and fun to drive. I sense that consumers are starting to catch on, which is why the second-hand market for EVs, and the popularity of the Tesla model 3 is on the rise. This is due to both the Tesla Model 3 being able to retain two-thirds of its original worth after three years, as well as software on EVs being regularly updated, which allows them to remain current, unlike the standard, more traditional vehicles.”

Although Tesla is a market leader among the EV world, the industry is not dominated solely by them. In-fact, it is shown that consumers are also searching more actively for different models of EV, including the Nio 7-seater SUV (up 300%), Volvo’s Polestar 2 (up 850%), and Tesla’s Model 3 Long Range (up 450%). This is another indication that there are different types of consumers looking to make the move to electric, from large families and young millennials, to businesspeople and corporates.

It appears that more businesses are looking to support their employees with electric cars, with an increase in search for salary sacrifice schemes (up 550%) in 2020. Alongside searches for ‘electric cars 2021 UK’, and ‘upcoming electric cars’ up 1,450% and 200% respectively, the data used for this research suggests that over the next 12 months we will continue to see a rise in the amount of consumers considering making the switch to EV.

We Own. We Drive. We Love Tesla

After owning several models of Tesla, when the time came to move on or upgrade, we found that the selling experience fell short of the initial buying experience. That’s why in 2020 we came up with the idea of WLT, with the aim of shaking up the market to improve the selling experience.

Here at We Love Tesla, we have a deep passion and love for the brand and appreciate what it means to be part of the unique experience and history that Tesla provides. We believe ‘the difference between something good and something great is the attention to detail’, which is why we understand that when it comes to moving on or upgrading, the adventure of selling your Tesla is just as important as the buying experience.

As owners and drivers of Tesla cars ourselves, we understand the need to take every feature, add-on, and individual detail into account to provide an accurate quotation that reflects the true value of your car. This is provided through our quick and easy online valuation platform, and is typically something that other online valuation companies cannot provide as their system doesn’t usually take into account the individuality of your Tesla, often leading to an inaccurate valuation.

However, our knowledge and expertise avoid this and ensure you get the most competitively priced quote reflective of current market trends. So, if you are thinking of re-homing your Tesla, get a no-obligation valuation from us today.
