Top 5 Tesla Easter Eggs

Did you know that in every Tesla there are Easter eggs that even the biggest fanboys of the brand don’t know about?

Although these Easter eggs are just a bit of fun extras, they can take some digging to uncover. It can range from giving your Tesla a hug to travelling to Mars. Here’s how to unlock them.

1. Tesla Charge Port Lights Show

We all know charging can be a bit mundane sometimes but leave it to Tesla to spice things up. When the plug is inserted into the car, if the user clicks the button on the charger 10 consecutive times, the port flashes different colours.

2. Drive at Warp Speed

Although Tesla won’t actually drive at warp speed, it’ll make you feel like you are. like many of the Tesla easter eggs it is all possible through the cars heads up display.

To activate this, locate the ludicrous mode option on the screen, push and hold the drive button for five seconds and you’re off!

3. Become a Martian

Although it might seem plausible that Elon Musk would put secret rockets that would allow you to fly to Mars in each Tesla, sadly this isn’t the case.

This Easter egg requires the driver to hold the ‘T’ Tesla logo on the display at the top. When it asks you for a code, enter the word ‘Mars’ and the screen will switch over to show a graphic over your car as a Mars Rover.

4. 007

Deep dive into James Bonds submarine car with Tesla. If drivers’ type ‘007’ into the login screen, the car graphic turns into the one from the 1977 movie “The Spy Who Loved Me”

5. Spreading the Love

This one may seem like a joke and a bit different from the others we’ve mentioned on the list by requiring you to give your car a hug, yes, a hug.

Apparently If you stand behind a Model 3, reach both hands across to touch the bottom edge of the side lights, the panels will open up. Behind these panels is a small red heart tucked away just for Tesla owners

We hope you enjoyed these hidden Easter eggs as much as we did! Let us know your favourite one, or if you have found others that we may not know.

Search Trends for EV in 2020

Trends in online searches show increasing demand for Electric vehicles and charging facilities throughout 2020.

Demand for electric vehicles and EV charging facilities set new records in 2020 according to research released by specialist Tesla online valuation website ‘We Love Tesla’.

Using Google data, the research identified an increase in the number of drivers searching for EV charging facilities whilst on the move. Local searches for ‘Electric Chargers Near Me’ increased by 2,850% between January 2020 and January 2021, with this set to grow as more road users opt for electric vehicles.

Consumers and businesses also seem to be considering making their premises more EV-friendly, with a 350% increase in searches for EV charging installations made during the same period, and a 250% increase for homeowners searching for EV charging at home.

Chris Davies, Founder of ‘We Love Tesla’ commented that “Brands such as Tesla were formed with the intention to show people that they do not need to compromise to drive electric, and that electric cars can be more sustainable, economical and fun to drive. I sense that consumers are starting to catch on, which is why the second-hand market for EVs, and the popularity of the Tesla model 3 is on the rise. This is due to both the Tesla Model 3 being able to retain two-thirds of its original worth after three years, as well as software on EVs being regularly updated, which allows them to remain current, unlike the standard, more traditional vehicles.”

Although Tesla is a market leader among the EV world, the industry is not dominated solely by them. In-fact, it is shown that consumers are also searching more actively for different models of EV, including the Nio 7-seater SUV (up 300%), Volvo’s Polestar 2 (up 850%), and Tesla’s Model 3 Long Range (up 450%). This is another indication that there are different types of consumers looking to make the move to electric, from large families and young millennials, to businesspeople and corporates.

It appears that more businesses are looking to support their employees with electric cars, with an increase in search for salary sacrifice schemes (up 550%) in 2020. Alongside searches for ‘electric cars 2021 UK’, and ‘upcoming electric cars’ up 1,450% and 200% respectively, the data used for this research suggests that over the next 12 months we will continue to see a rise in the amount of consumers considering making the switch to EV.

The Best Way to Sell Your Tesla

When the time comes to sell your Tesla, it can become confusing and frustrating trying to find the correct buyer that offers you the amount you feel your Tesla deserves. Selling online is also the best way to receive the maximum amount for your vehicle. At We Love Tesla we make this as easy as possible so that you can get the price you deserve.

Documentation

To ensure the sale of your Tesla goes smoothly you should make sure that you have all of the proper documentation to hand. These include;

  • Locating the title of your vehicle. If you own the Tesla outright then you should already have the title in your possession. This will then be signed over to the buyer to release legal liability and ownership.
  • Sorting the lien. If the vehicle is financed, then the title is owned by the bank and released upon payoff of the loan. If this is the case, then the finance will usually handle the transfer of ownership directly with the buyer.
  • An up-to-date screenshot of the vehicle’s mileage should also be available from the Tesla app, alongside the bill of sale. This officiates the purchase between the buyer and seller.

Preparation/Presentation

This is not mandatory but gives a good impression. We suggest cleaning the exterior and interior of the vehicle prior to us collecting.

Price

Make sure you have a valuation that you want in your head. That way you don’t go in blind. Compare your Tesla online to other similar spec ones and on other comparison sites to gauge what the value is (although we’re pretty confident that we beat any other valuation provided by our competitors!).

Collection

Finally, once all this has been taking care of, we will come to a location chosen by you in order to have an inspection of the vehicle, just to make sure it is in the condition you say it is. Once this is done, we will bank transfer you your money before we drive it away. You could then put that money to a brand new Model 3!

What Is MPGe? Why Is It Important?

The abbreviation of MPGe stands for “miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent”. Which offers a large cost savings over traditional cars due to the fact that electricity is much cheaper than gasoline, making it more economical to recharge or ‘refuel’ in petrol head terms.

How is MPGe determined?

MPGe was established as an energy efficient metric by The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2010. The sole goal being to relate the amount of energy expended by alternative fuel vehicles to that of more traditional cars.

However, a solid comparison isn’t always possible between the MPGe and MPG due to the variation in costs between alternative fuel vehicles and internal combustion engines. This results in EPA assuming prices that reflect the national averages.

Cost Saving For Electric Cars

Electric cars efficient use of energy is a contributor to their low cost of driving. Since most of the internal combustion engines operate at a less than 40% thermal efficiency, which means that less than 40% of the energy in each gallon of gasoline is used to turn the wheels while the rest is wasted in the form of heat.

This in comparison to electric motors which provide upwards of 90% efficiency with the majority of the electricity on board going to the wheels, with very little being lost as heat.

The New Tesla Model 3. What You Should Know

With Tesla introducing the new Model 3 2021 version, they have made the decision to stop selling the old $35,000 Model 3. This decision, not shockingly, arrives as the refreshed Model 3 is set to become their first vehicle built for their third-generation platforms, with the aim to reduce the entry price for electric vehicles while not making any compromises on range and performance. This new dual motor Tesla comes with a 3.1s 0-60 time, a 360-mile range on a full charge, and all-wheel drive. The performance of the Model 3 mk2 is undoubtedly great, but with the 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, it really is at the forefront of its market.

Alongside this, the refreshed Model 3 will include a new centre console and 18-19″ wheels, a new heat pump system will also be included. The new 2021 Model 3 will also feature a new efficiency package which will result in a 30-mile increase in range. The interior has also seen bigger changes with a heated steering wheel and auto dimming mirrors. Smaller, less noticeable changes were also made like a graphite trim near the seat control, that will require the car on hand to notice.

With the second hand Tesla market in strong demand, there has never been a better time to upgrade. So if you’re looking to upgrade from your existing Tesla to the new Model 3, get a no obligation, competitively priced valuation from us today!

We Own. We Drive. We Love Tesla

After owning several models of Tesla, when the time came to move on or upgrade, we found that the selling experience fell short of the initial buying experience. That’s why in 2020 we came up with the idea of WLT, with the aim of shaking up the market to improve the selling experience.

Here at We Love Tesla, we have a deep passion and love for the brand and appreciate what it means to be part of the unique experience and history that Tesla provides. We believe ‘the difference between something good and something great is the attention to detail’, which is why we understand that when it comes to moving on or upgrading, the adventure of selling your Tesla is just as important as the buying experience.

As owners and drivers of Tesla cars ourselves, we understand the need to take every feature, add-on, and individual detail into account to provide an accurate quotation that reflects the true value of your car. This is provided through our quick and easy online valuation platform, and is typically something that other online valuation companies cannot provide as their system doesn’t usually take into account the individuality of your Tesla, often leading to an inaccurate valuation.

However, our knowledge and expertise avoid this and ensure you get the most competitively priced quote reflective of current market trends. So, if you are thinking of re-homing your Tesla, get a no-obligation valuation from us today.
